This winter break was very different from our past holidays - Aaron and I were away from our families in a new province. Home as we would define it, would be the two us trying to make new traditions in our basement apartment. Luckily, I have family in BC who invited us to all of their holiday feasts, so there was still the sense of large community getting together to spend the holidays with each other. We also had our band of misfits, which included Matt, Sam, Jasmine and Milo, with whom we would would spend our entire break. It's unusual to think that we would spend so much time with people we met two months ago, but it felt right drinking mimosas and eating breakfast pizza with them on Christmas Day.
The first adventure of 2017 was checking out Chehalis river for some fishing. I found the hike somewhat challenging without snowshoes because I would eventually fall into waist deep snow, but the views were so worth it! We also saw about 12 bald eagles and Matt caught two coho salmon - great start to the new year! Other fun memories include checking out Enchant Van (Christmas light maze), playing pond hockey, hiking at Lynn Headwaters and checking out free light festivals. Pictures found below:
